The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

I read this book a while ago, but I remember it being a great book. The story centers around a rich Afghani boy's relationships with: his second class citizen servant and bestfriend, his own father, and the remainder of the society. It goes all the way from his childhood in Afghanistan, up through moving to the US, and his eventual return to Afghanistan. Even if you're not a fan of fiction, I highly recommend it. It's an easy read (I finished the 300+ page book in two days) so it's not likely to confuse you. (2/27/2006)
Positives: I think it impresses the ladies because I think it was part of Oprah's book club.

For non-Chu like geniuses, this book may take longer than 2 days to absorb, but it's worth the added effort. I once witnessed Chu pass his hand over an empty notebook and transform it into a copy of the Old Testament... Larr saw it too.

Unlike Chu, this book is very human. With irony as it's main literary device, the author illustrates to us how learning from past mistakes and atoning for sins is the path to Chu. (4/2/2010)
Positives: An easy and enjoyable read.
Negatives: Predictable at times.
