In the spirit of a) rewatching horror classics the girlfriend's never seen and b) a remake coming out, I decided to revisit Freddy Kreuger's bigscreen debut. Above average for 80's horror, with enough scares and blood to keep any horror fan happy. At the time, Freddy was a great contrast to the other big slasher stars (silent, hulking Jason and Michael Myers). His sinister wit and classic claw glove were a fresh change. I enjoyed watching this again after all these years, especially with someone who was unfamiliar with it. (4/29/2010)
Positives: Freddy at his original, most creepy/sinister, before devolving into a chatty, less frightening villain in subsequent sequels.
Negatives: Cliched 80s tough guys. Johnny Depp's debut isn't too bad though.
