Archer is a new FX animated series that takes the world of James Bond and puts it in Adult Swim land. The main character Sterling Archer is a bumbling, arrogant agent who only obtained his position in the spy agency due to his mother, who leads the unit. Their relationship is very reminiscent of Arrested Development. Of course, hearing Bluth matriarch Jessica Walter's voice reinforces that idea. Archer's voice is an unknown name and the only "name" actors featured are Chris Parnell and Aisha Tyler. The laughs in the pilot, which I watched on Hulu, were above average and ran the gamut of humor from vulgarity to irony to slapstick. I enjoyed the show and I hope the consistency remains high. Positives: Very interesting animation. The character drawings and motions are fairly simplistic but the backgrounds contain elements of reality as well as cell shading and other techniques.
