Death Magnetic by Metallica

Even though I was one of the people who got kicked off of Napster by them back in the day heh, I still have respected Metallica's work. I've never been anything close to a die-hard follower of theirs though, but I would consider myself a casual fan. Anyway, after reading other reviews of Death Magnetic, I was intrigued and had to give the album a listen. It doesn't disappoint at all. "The Day That Never Comes" is a really good song, that was their first release off the album. It reminds me of a combination of "Fade To Black" and "One". Most of the album rocks. (9/17/2008)
Positives: Metallica definitely went back to their roots. Reminded me how Pearl Jam did the same thing a few years ago. It's a great listen when you're working out, pumping iron, or you have the urge of running into or through objects and humans.
Negatives: Nine out of the ten songs on the album are 6 minutes or longer. It is unique these days for a band to do something like this, but I think it's going a little overboard. Unforgiven III is like the Godfather III of this triology.
