With all the horror remakes out there, it’s funny to see a film that’s original and instead only LOOKS like a remake, as House of the Devil pays homage to the 80’s horror films we remember so well. From the opening credits, to the music, to the look of this film, you feel like it’s 1985 all over again. Something else that makes this stand apart from the remakes is that it’s actually GOOD. What begins with a very simple and clichéd horror setup (girl answers ad for a babysitter) leaves you feeling extremely creepy and satisfied as a horror fan. Without any name actors to speak of, (I recognized one guy from the FX series “Damages”) House of the Devil is a welcome trip down nostalgia lane. I’m just going to go ahead and say it. This IS an 80s flick. Criminally overlooked. (2/18/2010)
