Inception

Inception, a sci-fi action flick from Christopher Nolan, is the story of Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), a man who can enter people's dreams in order to extract information. Saying any more than that could ruin the fun for you. Three words describe this movie: exhilarating, scintillating, and enthralling. (exhilarating) Countless scenes in the film left me breathless, mouth agape, or tightly gripping the armrests. Fantastic camera techniques ramped up the tension time and time again and I had a persistent smile on my face. (scintillating) Amazing visuals and an outstanding musical score still give me goosebumps when I see and hear them. (enthralling) As a whole, I was completely enveloped by the story. At times, I just sat there unwittingly making "ooh ooh" noises (so I'm told). (7/22/2010)
Positives: Inception is the rare original film that makes it to theaters. While Nolan borrows ideas from films that predate it, the screenplay itself is completely original. Not based on a comic book, novel, film, or short story. I can't stress what a great feat this is. The cast enhances this movie to the nth degree. Whereas Avatar (another original) miscast much of the crew, Inception strikes gold with Leo, JoGo, Juno, Ra's, and more.

Great movie for anyone who's fascinated by dreams. It makes you really start to think about dreams in a whole other way. It's like the first time I played connect four against mcn and I realized how complex something that I thought was simple really was. Even if you're not that into dreams, there's still plenty of action, drama, or whatever else you're looking for in a great movie. (except it wasn't very funny, so I guess don't see it if you're looking for a laugh. Positives: Gotta love movies that make you think and this is one of them. Acting was ok, but the storyline and visuals is what really makes this movie stand out like larr at chu's family reunion.
Negatives: I didn't like the casting of Ellen page. I felt like that character needed to be portrayed by someone older who has a more mature on screen presence. I just couldn't buy into it.
Spoiler (highlight to read): It bothers me when movies leave the ending open, but I think it was a perfect ending for this movie and would have been disappointed if it did have the closure I typically seek in other movie endings. (end)
