Haven't played Resistance 1 in a while, but that was a great game. The sequel, Resistance 2, does not disappoint! Will go down as one of my all-time favorite multiplayer games. What makes it so great?! It's like getting 5 games in one. First you have the story mode. Unlike resistance 1, Story mode is not coop which is a downer. Although there are more baddies and tremendous art direction, you'll wish you had a human partner to watch your back. To follow the story mode storyline, however, you have a multiplayer coop which will let 8(?) players join the battlefield to fend off the alien Chimera! What makes it so revolutionary, is that you have to select a class (Medic, soldier, spec-ops) prior to starting the mission. Choose poorly, and you mill be mercilessly slaughtered by the Chimera. Then you have the Competitive Multiplayer which is my personal favorite. In it, you have your traditional Capture the Flag and Deathmatch which are great if you are on the right team. But then you also get Skirmish, where you computer gives your 4 player Squad special assignments that you must accomplish to gain points (e.g. protect your base, kill a priority target, etc). Did I also mention that this game supports 60 players at once WITHOUT ANY LAG!?! I prefer the smaller matches, however, as 60 players is usually mass carnage. (2/9/2009)
Negatives: no storymode coop. split screen has 2 black bar left and right. difficult to customize matches (e.g. 60player matches always end too soon). Less medals than resistance 1. MOST people will not like many of the weapons in the game (carbine is the easiest to use and 75% of players stick to it like glue), but read up on weapon tips to find out how to use them. You many not get as many kills as you like, but if you are a team player, other weapons can get your team out of the hole.
