Splice

A twist on the classic monster movie, Splice tries to push the envelope with moral arguments that begin with stem cells and gene splicing and end with interspecie relations. Adrian Brody and Sarah Polley are fine in their roles as husband/wife scientists who bring a strange mishmash of animals to life (all in the name of forwarding disease prevention/cure research), only to become too attached to what could pass at times for a human child. Sadly, the creepiness wears off and this flick becomes forgettable and silly in the second half. More of a curiosity piece than anything. (6/25/2010)
