Touching despite its strangeness, Where the Wild Things Are is a nice change of pace for movie-goers, kids and adults alike. Featuring some nice voice performances (Galdofini, Chris Cooper, Catherine O'Hara) and laced with solid tongue in cheek humor, the film embraces the inner-monster we all had as kids. At times I was surprised how dark this got, mostly when Gandolfini was channeling Tony Soprano's anger, and it might scare kids under a certain age. But overall I really enjoyed this and was drawn to the friendship between the boy and the monsters. Recommended, and I'd watch again. (11/24/2009)
