Directed by Drew Barrymore and starring the new "it" girl Ellen Page, Whip It tells the story of a teenage girl trying to fit in. She finds a new outlet for growth through roller derby. What follows is a somewhat predictable story along the lines of a typical sport movie. What the film lacks in originality is more than accounted for through humor and quality acting (Page, Marcia Gay Harden, Daniel Stern). Well directed and shot, I really enjoyed the relationships, dialog, and action scenes. (7/28/2010)
